SETTING, PLOT AND
HISTORICAL ACCURACY
SETTINGAlbany Beauty is set in the year 1498. In the small town of Fae - a settlement on the shoreline of the fantasy kingdom of Vienne. It holds everything that you might expect for a 15th Century setting - no indoor plumbing, no women in trousers and coins being particularly high in value.
PLOTThe current plot of the forum is that the king of Vienne, King Jerrold has had an attempt made on his life. While sleeping, a man in complete black was able to breech the walls of the castle and slip into the bed chamber of the king and queen. Prince Edward, First Son and heir to the throne, had been awake and in the living quarters of the royal suite when he heard a soft thump of feet hitting the floor. Thinking that his mother had dropped her reading book upon falling asleep again, he had gone in to investigate and found the would-be attacker with blade unsheathed, approaching the bed. The prince quickly engaged fighting with the assassin and his parents awoke. The guard was called and the man in black escaped out of the window, from which he had come.
As the attacker was never found and convicted and the castle was no longer safe the royal family has been relocated to Fae, to the Royal Palace that was normally their holiday home on the shore. The palace has had all measure of security put in place to the point where the royals themselves feel a little imprisoned and they are not allowed back into the castle in the capital of Vienne (named after the kingdom) until the royal examiner has ascertained that it is, once again, safe.
HISTORICAL ACCURACYThere is none. I may be a history student but I am not going to refuse to let people be creative simply because they don't know enough about the 15th Century. If it is of any help to anyone - watch a couple of old fashioned movies (Ever After would be a good one) and you'll get the general idea. Even films like that are highly inaccurate historically but we don't much care. So long as your lady in a corset is not walking along listening to an iPod, all is well.
If the staff do see something particularly out of place we will PM you and ask you to change it.
So is that all clear as mud? Good good. I'm glad your still around. Obviously this is an rp that you're really starting to like the looks of which is awesome - the more the merrier on here, that;s for certain! So on with the show, or tour as it is. The next thread for you to go through is the rules. I know a lot of people like to skip over these because they are frustrating and boring and, usually, the same on every forum. But it is important that you read them through please ladies and gents, so I shall see you there! |
